Idea Behind IMC- Inter school Maths Contest
Indian system of education faces a lot of challenges in maths. It is seen that children face maths phobia, are slow in calculations and do finger counting. Rote learning has aggravated problems even further. Although there have been some welcome changes in the schooling system, but a lot more needs to be done.
With this idea of change being our driving force IMC focuses on enhancing maths skills amongst our young learners and motivate them with recognition.
Vision of IMC
Maths Olympiad – IMC (Interschool Maths Contest) is a platform for students, teachers and schools to learn the good maths skills and motivate all the stakeholders in education to develop a strong foundation of maths for children. Maths is a life skill, the contest motivates the students to learn the concepts of maths, develop time saving skills and encourages practical approach. The contest is for participants from Class 1st to Class 8th in three categories:- Junior, Middle and Senior. It not only recognises the students having good maths skills but also the teachers who encourage and motivate students for the same.
The first step in this direction is training. Hence students are trained through workshops in schools and then their skills are recognised with awards and prizes as part of the IMC ,the Inter school Maths Contest of Winaum Learning.
The current focus of this competition is to establish itself as one of the biggest maths competition in India and in the long run across other nations as well.
